Lifecycle & Tags
Loopwave gives you two complementary ways to organize contacts: a structured lifecycle stage (one per contact) and free-form tags (many per contact).
Lifecycle stages
Every contact has a single lifecycle stage describing where they are in your funnel:
| Stage | Meaning |
|---|---|
lead | A new or potential customer (the default for new contacts). |
active | Currently engaged in a conversation or deal. |
customer | Has purchased. |
vip | A high-value or priority customer. |
churned | Lapsed, inactive, or opted out. |
Filter your contacts list by stage to focus on, say, every lead you haven’t converted
or every vip who deserves white-glove care.
The churned stage is a handy place to park opted-out contacts so they’re easy to
exclude from outreach. See Outreach best practices.
Tags
Tags are flexible labels you can attach in any number to a contact —
website, event-2026, wholesale, refund-pending, and so on. Use them for anything
the fixed lifecycle stages don’t capture.
Lifecycle vs. tags
| Lifecycle | Tags | |
|---|---|---|
| How many per contact | Exactly one | Any number |
| Values | Fixed set | Free-form |
| Best for | Funnel position | Ad-hoc segmentation |
Putting it together
A single contact might be lifecycle customer with tags vip, wholesale, and
bengaluru. That combination lets you build precise segments — for example, “every
customer tagged wholesale” — for targeted follow-up or a broadcast.
Notes capture anything a label or stage can’t.
